Logging in to the System

The system prompts you to change your PIN:

 

• The first time you log in after your User account is set up.

• Every 180 days, with a seven-day grace period for making the change.

 

PINs must meet the following requirements:

 

• Minimum of six characters.

• Cannot repeat characters more than three times consecutively.

• Cannot be the same as the User name.

• Cannot be in current PIN history. The system retains your last four PINs in PIN history. Since you are required to change your PIN every 180 days, you'll have to wait about eight months before you can reuse a PIN.

• Contains a mix of characters from three (3) of the following areas:

• • English uppercase alpha characters (A-Z).

  • English lowercase alpha characters (a-z).

  • Numeric digits (0-9).

  • Non-alphabetic characters (e.g., !, $, #, %).

 

An example of a valid PIN is abcDef9. Do NOT use this example as your PIN.

The system prompts you to establish a security question and answer the first time you log in after your User account is set up. The system uses your security question and answer to verify your identity if you forget your and you attempt to retrieve it or your User account is locked and you request it be unlocked.

The system locks your user account if:

 

• You fail to successfully log in after ten consecutive attempts.

• You fail to change your PIN within seven days of being prompted by the system.

 

If you attempt to log in while your user account is locked, the system displays an error message. You will be required to enter your PIN and the email address associated to your user account. If the information is correct, you will be required to answer the security question associated to your user account. If your response matches the answer associated to your user account, the system assigns you a temporary PIN and sends you an email message containing a link to log in using the temporary PIN. You must log in with the temporary PIN within seven days of receipt and then change it or the PIN will expire and you will have to obtain a new temporary PIN.

1. Perform one of the following:

 

To...	Then...
Access the page from the left navigation menu...	Click the user login link in the left navigation menu.   The Registered User Login page is displayed.
Access the page from the menu bar...	Click the user login tab in the menu bar.   The Registered User Login page is displayed.

 

2. Type your User name in the user name field.

 

3. Type your PIN in the pin field. As you type your PIN, periods are displayed instead of the typed characters.

 

4. Click the login button.

 

The system verifies your User name and PIN.

 

If...	Then...
The information is valid and it's not your first time logging in after your account was set up and your PIN is not expired...	The Candidate/Committee Overview page is displayed. The system logs you out of the application after a 60 minute period of inactivity.
The information is valid and it's your first time logging in after your account was set up or your PIN has expired...	The PIN Change page is displayed. Perform the steps for Changing Your PIN or Security Question.
The information is invalid...	The system displays an error message. Enter a valid User name and PIN or contact your System Administrator for assistance.

1. Type your user name in the user name field.

 

2. Click the forgot your pin link.

 

The security question currently associated to your user account is displayed.

 

3. Type the answer to your security question in the answer field. Your security answer is the one that is currently associated to your user account. The field is not case-sensitive and does not allow spaces or special characters.

 

4. Click the submit button.

 

The system compares your security answer to the one associated to your user account.

The answer is correct...	The system displays your PIN.
The answer is incorrect...	The system displays an error message. Enter a valid answer or contact your System Administrator for assistance.

1. Type your user name in the user name field.

 

2. Click the forgot your pin link.

 

The security question currently associated to your user account is displayed.

4. Click the submit button.

 

The system compares your security answer to the one associated to your user account.

The answer is incorrect...	The system displays an error message. Enter a valid answer or contact your System Administrator for assistance.

1. On the Registered User Login page, click the forgot your user name? link.

 

The Find My Lost User Name fields are displayed.

 

2. Type your first name in the first name field.

 

3. Type your last name in the last name field.

 

4. Type your email address in the email address field.

 

5. Click the get user name button.

 

The system compares the information you entered to the information associated to your user account.

 

If...	Then...
The information matches...	The security question associated to your user account is displayed.   Type the answer to your security question in the answer field. Your security answer is the one that is currently associated to your user account. The field is not case-sensitive and does not allow spaces or special characters.   Click the submit button.   The system compares your security answer to the one associated to your user account.   If... Then... The answer is correct... The system sends your user name to the email address associated to your user account. Proceed to log in to the system. The answer is incorrect... The system displays an error message. Enter a valid answer or contact your System Administrator for assistance.
The information does not match...	The system displays an error message. Enter valid information or contact your System Administrator for assistance.

 

1. Type your user name in the user name field.

 

2. Type your PIN in the pin field.

 

3. Type the email address associated to your user account in the email address field.

 

4. Click the unlock user button.

 

If...	Then...
The information is correct...	The system displays the security question currently associated to your user account.   Type the answer to your security question in the answer field. Your security answer is the one that is currently associated to your user account. The field is not case-sensitive and does not allow spaces or special characters.   Click the submit button.   The system compares your security answer to the one associated to your user account.   If... Then... The answer is correct... The system assigns you a temporary PIN and sends it to the email address associated to your user account. You must log in with the temporary PIN within seven days of receipt and then change the PIN or it will expire and you will have to obtain a new temporary PIN. The answer is incorrect... The system displays an error message. Enter a valid answer or contact your System Administrator for assistance.
